Hyundai Elantra wins 2021 North American Car of the Year award

Hyundai Elantra 2021 won the award 2021 North American Car of the Year, rated by the American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) Automotive Media Jury. This is the second time the sedan has Hyundai wins this award, being the first in 2012.

Jurors tested and evaluated more than 40 new vehicles before voting for the top three cars, utility vehicles and trucks to be finalists for 2021. The Nissan Sentra and the Genesis G80 were the other finalist cars.

Now in its 28th year, the awards NACTOY are selected through a series of three separate votes, made up of a diverse jury of automotive journalists from numerous media outlets in the United States and Canada. Jury members evaluate the finalists based on their segment leadership, innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, and dollar value.

Since its founding in 1994, the awards NACTOY they are the oldest for new vehicles, without being associated with any publication, website, radio or television station. Due to the independence of the juries, these awards are among the most respected in the industry.

Only two cars had been awarded this accolade more than once (Chevrolet Corvette and Honda Civic) and this marks a third victory for Hyundai in this category. The winner was announced during a virtual event.
