Timo Meier confirmed his excellent form Friday night in Anaheim. He scored two goals for his San Jose Sharks team. He scored the 3-2 in the 31st minute, then the 4-3 in the 34th. This was not enough for the Sharks to win. The San Jose franchise lost 4-5 in overtime.
Still, Timo Meier, who got the 3rd star of the game, scored points for the All-Star Game, for which he is eligible via public vote. His two goals on Friday bring him to a total of 40 points (including 23 goals), which allows him to lead his compatriot Kevin Fiala (Los Angeles Kings) by one point in the ranking of the best Swiss scorers in the NHL.
For the rest, Swiss hockey players had mixed fortunes on Friday evening. Philipp Kurashev’s Chicago Blackhawks beat JJ Moser’s Arizona Coyotes 2-0. Pius Suter’s Detroit Red Wings lost 2-3 at home to the Florida Panthers. Finally, the Nashville Panthers of Nino Niderreiter and Roman Josi won 3-2 in Washington.
