In California, we are already rationing the recharging of electric vehicles

All like in Francethe State of California opted for theban on the sale of new thermal cars by 2035. 6 days after the vote on this new measure, the operators of the Californian electricity network asked households with vehicles not to recharge them to avoid power outages. Indeed, the weather forecast predicts a big heat wave for the extended weekend of “Labor Day” (American Labor Day). High temperatures (up to 37°) are likely to strain the West Coast network. From September 31 to 6, therefore, over-consumers of electricity will be warned by alerts put in place by the ISO (California’s electricity supplier). But the organization invites to reduce its consumption from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and for this, it therefore asks not to charge its electric vehicles.
