Tropical rains create chaos in Florida
Early this Saturday morning, flooding swamped streets and cars in Miami. In 72 hours, 255 mm of rain fell there, and 245 mm on the Fort Lauderdale side. Up to 300 mm were even expected for certain sectors. The June normal is 267 mm. Miami therefore received almost a month of rain with this system. The inhabitants had water up to their waists. A first tropical storm in the Atlantic?
On the anticipated track, the system should then cross the southwest Atlantic, northwest of the Bahamas on Saturday evening and Sunday. The system is expected to become a tropical storm by tomorrow morning. It will be necessary to monitor the formation of Alex, the very first storm of the year in the Atlantic basin. This disruption would kick off a particularly active hurricane season, according to forecasts from the NOAA.
