Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is pleased to announce the launch of “Internet to Go,” the mobile hotspot lending program for the public.

MCPL has a collection of 250 Verizon Mifi Mobile hotspots that are available at all MCPL locations that currently provide public service.

Customers can reserve an access point through the MCPL catalog or by calling 240-777-0001 and making an appointment at the library of your choice. Hotspots will be loaned for 2 weeks without renewals.

Checkout eligibility requirements

You must be at least 14 years old.
You must have a valid MCPL library account. The account cannot be locked, expired, or be in collections.

Circulation period

2 weeks without renewals.
One mobile hotspot per account.
Hotspot can be returned to any branch of the library.
Reservations can be placed for pickup at any branch of the library.

Late payment charges

If it is not returned on or before the due date, a penalty of $ 1 per day, maximum $ 15 will be charged.
The item will not be registered if it is returned with any missing components (access point, case, charger). Late fees will continue to apply until all items are returned.
Loss or replacement fees

The total replacement cost is $ 230.

Individual components: $ 199 hotspot, $ 15 case, $ 15 charger.
The data plan will be canceled after the item is expired for 1 week. This means that the device will no longer provide Internet access.
