This is the first finding in Worth County in 2022 and the first discovery in a commercial flock in Iowa since April 20, 2022. Reports indicated the state now has 14.4 million birds affected by Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. .

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has not yet publicly confirmed the case and they update their HPAI data daily at noon ET.

For the US, this would mark the first commercial flock discovery since two Minnesota commercial turkey meat flocks were confirmed with HPAI on October 27 with a total of 95,100 birds.
