Jaguars vs Texans: Predictions and odds for Week 17 (The ultimate disappointment for Jacksonville)

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence woke up and suddenly took over the AFC South. The Houston Texans did them a favor by beating Tennessee last week. Whatever the results of the two teams in Week 17, they will play for the AFC South title in Week 18.

The Jaguars climbed to the top of the division by soundly beating the Jets on Thursday Night Football to move to 7-8. They have now won four in a row and five of six. The Texans actually have more at stake in this game with the possibility of losing the first draft pick. They are at 2-12-1 and Chicago at 3-12. A win could rob them of their next quarterback.

Let’s take a look at the odds for this AFC South game.

Jaguars vs. Texans – Prediction and Prognosis

The Jaguars did. They fought their way back into the playoffs and now they control their own destiny. The problem is that it doesn’t matter if they win this game and it’s a dangerous situation for bettors. Even though we want to look at the numbers and think these matches are being played in a simulation, the players are human, they know the reality of the situation and it’s human nature to take your foot off the gas.

Not that this game means a ton to Houston, but there is motivation to play spoilsport against a division rival.

Vegas is aware of the reality of the situation and that is reflected in the four-point gap. Jacksonville proved to be a very good team down the stretch, Trevor Lawrence played as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Against New York, he wasn’t special and Houston was very dashing, taking Kansas City to overtime and beating Tennessee.

Houston has the worst running defense in the NFL, and they’ve given up 184 rushing points to Tennessee, so it’s worrisome when betting on the Texans, but I’ll do it knowing it’s about a huge one-point lead for the Jaguars, perhaps the biggest in franchise history.
