Jamel Barnwell wanted a fatal shootout in East Norriton, Montgomery County

EAST NORRITON, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – A manhunt continues with a shooter who opened fire on a bowling alley in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Saturday night, killing one person and injuring four others.

It happened on Saturday around 6.45pm on our City Road, formerly Facenda Whitaker Lanes, at 2900 on Swedish Road.

Montgomery County’s district attorney Kevin Steele said the suspect, 17-year-old Jamel Barnwell, is wanted in the murders. He is considered armed and dangerous.

According to authorities, Barnwell entered a bowling alley with two other men and an argument broke out with the victim, 29-year-old Frank Wade from West Philadelphia.

Firing 5 shots at a bowling alley, killing Wade who was shot on the ground.

According to authorities, Barnell and the men he was with fled the bowling alley after the shooting. They left three phones, one of which was Barnwells.

“We are looking for all three men involved and are asking for public support in finding the shooter Barnwell. If you find him, don’t approach him as he is considered armed and escaped the bowling alley with the gun that killed Frank Wade, ”said Steele.

Four other members of the Wade family were also wounded in the shooting. They were identified as 31 year old, 21 year old, 19 year old, and 26 year old. All four victims are listed in a stall at a local hospital.

Wade’s wife said he was a loving husband and father of two children who wanted to be a cook.

“He was a good man. Frank had a lot of hope and dreams. He was never a violent man. He was never on the street. He wanted the best, ”said Syreta Stanford.

Steele said there were around 50 to 75 people, including young children, in the bowling alley when the shooting exploded. Some people hid in a nearby Mecahan closet.

“You start hearing, ‘Pop Pop Pop Pop’. You hear them go and everyone panics and runs backwards, ”said Harry Delmar, who was in the bowling alley with his family with his 2 year old nephew and his 9 year old nephew.

“Make sure they get out safely. My first priority was children. I did not take care of myself. I didn’t know how close the man was to where he was when he went into the alleys, ”said Megan Jantzi, Delmar’s fiancée.

Jantzi’s family returned in their car on Sunday. They had left everything inside and the stranger brought them home.

“Stranger, that was very nice. But I was hurt to speak to her and I’m going to send her a thank you letter today, ”said Jantzi’s mother, Jeanne.

Barnwell is charged with murder. He is described as standing 6 ‘1 ”and weighs about 150 pounds.
