Keith Hayes excited for ex-‘neighbors’

Because Salzkotten’s professional Keith Hayes, who grew up in the small town of Bryant in the state of Arkansas, meets a former “neighbor”. Dorsten’s Thomas Alexander hails from North Little Rock, just 20 miles from Bryant. Both are 27 years old and know each other well.

“That gives the game a special explosiveness,” says Martin Krüger. Salzkotten’s coach is happy that his team trained well over the turn of the year and on the first days of the new year. “We want to win and stay on the heels of the leaders SVD Dortmund,” emphasizes the coach. Dorsten started the series as the favorite for the title, but has weakened in the meantime and has already lost three away games in Dortmund (52:75), in Iserlohn (75:88) and in Werne (71:78).

There is also a top game in the men’s national league. The SC Borchen, as the leader of the table, hosts the third-placed Baskets Bad Oeynhausen. The Kurstädter have only lost two games so far. “The first game of the new year is always subject to special conditions. We have to be concentrated when we work,” demands SCB coach Christoph Bartels.

SC GW Paderborn beat VfL Schlangen 89:57 in an early encounter and thus took the decisive step towards staying up in the league at the end of the half-season. In the previous season, the green-whites had only secured their place in the state league in a follow-up procedure and then promised to improve. The project has succeeded.
