Li-Cycle opens fourth battery recycling facility in Alabama

Canadian battery recycler Li-Cycle opened its fourth recycling facility for lithium-ion batteries in mid-October. The new plant is located in Tuscaloosa in the state of Alabama and has a processing capacity of up to 10,000 tons of production scrap from e-car production and old batteries, explained Li-Cycle. Furthermore, the option to expand the processing capacity is given.

By the end of 2023, the company expects to have a total processing capacity of 65,000 tons of lithium-ion battery material per year in its spoke network in North America and Europe. The total processing capacity of the battery recycler is currently around 30,000 tons of material per year. This amount corresponds to the equivalent of batteries for 60,000 electric vehicles….
