A family of four died Saturday morning in Louisville, Kentucky, after a father allegedly shot and killed his wife and two daughters, as confirmed by the Louisville Police Department.

The victims were identified as Mary Stanton, 49; Andrianna Stanton, 17; Brianna Stanton, 11; and Gary Stanton, 60, according to multiple reports.

“Officers with the LMPD 3rd Division responded to a call of a multiple casualty shooting in the 4500 block of E. Pages Lane,” Louisville police said in a statement.

“When officers arrived, they located 4 victims inside the home, an adult male, an adult female, and 2 young females deceased from apparent gunshot wounds,” they added.

Authorities believe Gary Stanton fatally shot the others before turning the gun on himself.

We’re pretty sure the incident will be a murder-suicide situation. in which the adult male was the primary assailant who shot all three women,” LMPD Major Micah Scheu said afterward, according to WDRB.com.

Mary’s sister, Emily Muchemi, said she talked to Mary often and “nothing seemed strange” before the Saturday violence. “We talk and joke every day,” she said, according to WDRB. Mary had reportedly started a job at an adult daycare center after training to be a nurse, the outlet reports.

In a GoFundMe launched for funeral expensesEmily Muchemi wrote that their father died suddenly in November and that the sisters had recently traveled to Kenya for his funeral.

Emily told WDRB that her two deceased nieces were bright and up-and-coming. Her oldest daughter, Andrianna, was a senior in high school and planned to graduate in the spring.

It’s unclear what drove Gary Stanton to kill his family, but according to a statement from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Mary and Adrianna were shot multiple times, while Brianna was only shot once.

According to him FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, nearly 600 murder-suicides occur annually with 65 percent of incidents involving intimate partners and 81 percent occurring in the home.
