Sergio Aguero will miss Manchester City’s game against Brighton on Wednesday due to his obligation to self-isolate, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
The Argentina striker missed Sunday’s FA Cup third round victory over Birmingham after being asked to self-isolate as close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19. It’s yet another setback for the forward, whose return from knee surgery this season has already been complicated by further joint pain and a hamstring injury.
Asked about Aguero at a press conference, Guardiola said: “Quarantine, isolated, rules. After nine or ten days, he will be back ”. Guardiola added that striker Raheem Sterling, who also missed out on the Birmingham Championship 3-0 win, was in good shape but defenders Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte were injured. Eric Garcia is still in isolation following a positive test for Covid-19.
