Tunisian Mehdi Nafti has been hired by Wydad Casablanca to replace Houcine Ammouta. “I am very happy and proud to join the Wydadie family. Dima Wydad,” said the 44-year-old Tunisian coach in a video posted on Wydad Casablanca’s facebook page.
“We will need all our forces and your forces to succeed in achieving all our objectives,” said Nafti, the former Tunisian international and winner with the Carthage Eagles of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in 2004. Trained by Toulouse FC, he played for Racing de Santander, Real Valladolid and Cadiz CF in Spain and Birmingham City in England.
During his coaching career, he coached Leganes and Levante in Spain. Wydad, currently second in the Botola Pro D1 with 18 points, suffered two consecutive defeats this season against AS FAR (3-0) then Chabab Mohammedia (1-2) on behalf of the 10th day.
