At the British site in Littleborough, Mauser Packaging Solutions (Oak Brook, Illinois / USA) is expanding the production capacity for plastic drums. The manufacturer of industrial packaging has invested an undisclosed sum in a new extrusion blow molding machine that can produce 3-layer containers with a middle layer made of recycled plastic.
With the current investment, the packaging multinational is responding to the increasing demand for plastic packaging made from recyclates in the United Kingdom. From April 1, 2022, the UK will levy a tax on plastic packaging that does not contain at least 30% recycled content and is either made in the UK or imported into the country, whether the pack is filled or empty.
