Mayor of NY declares a state of emergency, immigration transfer from the south of the United States | Reuters

[ニューヨーク 7日 ロイター] – New York City Mayor Adams, a Democrat, declared a state of emergency on Wednesday over thousands of immigrants who have been bused into the city from the southern border in recent months.

He pledged $1 billion to manage the influx of immigrants. He said more than 17,000 migrants have been transferred to the city since April, straining the city’s homeless shelter.

Governor Abbott (Republican) of Texas transported more than 3,000 immigrants to New York by bus. Mayor Adams accused Governor Abbott of failing to warn city officials when transferring immigrants.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Bowser, a Democrat, declared a public emergency in September after the Republican governors of Texas and Arizona, both bordering Mexico, were sending immigrants on buses. Abbott has blamed Democrats, including President Biden, for the immigration influx.
