Meyers Leonard will train with the Lakers this Friday

Two years after his last NBA game, Meyers Leonard will have an opportunity to find a team. Indeed, the former pivot of the Blazers and the Heat will train with the Lakers this Friday.

DeMarcus Cousins won’t be the only pivot to workout with the Los Angeles franchise this Friday. Meyers Leonard will therefore also be there if we are to believe Shams Charania of The Athletic.

This is the first time we’ve heard from Meyers Leonard with an NBA team in almost two years, and the unfortunate episode of his skid on Twitch where he dropped an anti-Semitic slur during a game of Call of Duty. As a reminder, he had been fined $50,000 and suspended for one week by the League, before being transferred from the Heat to the Thunder and then cut by Oklahoma City.

Since, Meyers Leonard involved with the Jewish community to try to erase his mistake, and recovered from his shoulder and ankle operations dating from the beginning of 2021. For those who have forgotten what he could bring to the field (we can’t tell you want), we are talking about a 2m13 pivot who turns 39% at 3-point in career (with several seasons over 40%). And we know, the Lakers need shooters, as well as presence in the racket while Anthony Davis is still in the infirmary.
