Miguel Angel Jimenez (-5) has posted a fantastic 67 to take the lead after the first round in the Champions Tour’s TimberTech Championship, which takes place at the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida.
The Spaniard was just one under after 14 holes, but closed with four consecutive birdies to take a one-shot lead over Paul Goydos y Rod Pampling.

Jiménez, 58, has three wins in 2022 and is fifth in the Schwab Cup standings. Steven Alkeralso defending Timbertech champion, went -2 and is in a 10-player group tied for seventh place.
Pampling, 53, of Australia, also made four birdies over the last five holes to deliver a 68-shot card, including a birdie chip on the par-3 17th.

There are 36 holes remaining during the weekend, and the same strong gusts of wind that the players have suffered this Friday are expected.
