Miss Universe 2022: María Fernanda Rodríguez’s opponent is forced to resign from the contest

The representative of Latvia in Miss Universe 2022, Kate Alexeeva, had no choice but to give up the prestigious beauty pageant, which will take place next Saturday, January 14, in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.

The beauty queen made the decision just days before the gala takes place, in which the Costa Rican María Fernanda Rodríguez will participate.

Alexeeva released the news through her Instagram account, where she explained the reasons that forced her to step aside from the famous contest.

“Shortly before the New Year I was diagnosed with covid-19 and had complications. At this time I am still recovering and unfortunately I am being forced to revoke my participation in Miss Universe this year,” she stated.

The model, businesswoman and influencer explained that this decision was made because “my health and the health of the other contestants and their families is a priority.”

“I still can’t believe I’m saying this. I am very sad to have to announce this… I cannot believe it”, added Alexeeva, who ended her post by thanking all the people who have supported her in the process.

As announced by Miss Universe, Kate Alexeeva is an experienced model, who began her career in 2010 working for brands such as Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Coach, Guess and more.

In addition, the 28-year-old has been on the cover of magazines such as Marie Claire, Glam Week UK, Starview Spain y GMARO Magazine.
