Bad news for Salvy and Missouri. The Kansas City Royals they placed Salvador Perez on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday. The Creole catcher suffered a hand injury during Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox.

After the tests carried out on the Valencian catcher, it was determined that Pérez suffered a sprain in his left thumb. For their part, the Royals called up Creole catcher Sebastian Rivero from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to share duties with MJ Melendez.

Cam Gallagher, who serves as the Royals’ backup, remains injured after a hamstring strain. The Missouri ninth will have to rely on Rivero and Melendez until their main receivers are 100% recovered.
