MLB: Wilson Contreras leaves Cubs game with apparent injury

Wrigley Field /

In the midst of what was beginning to be a great performance, the Venezuelan catcher Willson Contrera came out in the third inning of the Chicago Cubs game this Saturday, May 21 when they faced the Arizona Diamondbacks with what would be an apparent injury.

Before his departure, the man from Puerto Cabello singled and stole a base before telling the Cubs’ medical staff that he could not continue in the game.

Apparently, the injury would have come during the stolen base in the third inning. After the slide, he appeared to grab his hamstring. The medical report issued by the club confirmed the tension in the back of the leg.

The club would be taking Willson Contreras day by day checking his physical condition.

Contreras sat out quite a bit between the 2017 and 2019 seasons with injuries to the same body part.
