A worker at Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama died Saturday in a ramp incident, the Federal Aviation Administration said Saturday.

Montgomery Regional Airport said in a statement that an American Airlines/Piedmont Airlines ground staff employee was “involved in a fatality” around 3 p.m.

“We are saddened to learn of the tragic loss of a member of the AA/Piedmont Airlines team,” said Wade A. Davis, airport executive director. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

All flights departing and arriving at the airport have been grounded until further notice, the statement said. An FAA website said the airport was closed Saturday night.

The victim was not named and the circumstances of the death were not immediately disclosed. Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.

The flight, operated by regional carrier Envoy Air, was scheduled to depart Montgomery for Dallas-Fort Worth on Saturday afternoon, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.com.

CNN contacted Envoy Air for more information on Saturday.
