MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Montgomery County School has delayed the return to face-to-face classes due to the high number of COVID-19 cases.
The county school board met Tuesday for final approval that would have allowed students to return to school campuses on February 1.
However, the board decided to delay the date to March 15 if Coronavirus cases decrease in these coming weeks.
We understand that many MCPS families will be disappointed that we are unable to return to in-person instruction on February 1st. The safety of students and staff has guided and will continue to guide our return to in-person learning. Current numbers just don’t support a return at this time, the school county expressed through a letter.
Officials reported that they will meet once again on February 23 for the final vote.
