Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is back with another bet on a Texas sports team preparing for a national championship showdown.
The founder of Gallery Furniture made betting history in November when he took home $75 million after the Houston Astros’ World Series victory. Two months later, he sides with another squad of the Lone Star State.
TCU will face reigning champion Georgia in Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship. While the Horned Frogs are a team just starting to win, that doesn’t stop Mattress Mack from endorsing them.
Mattress Mack has staked more than $3 million on TCU against Georgia, including $2.13 million on TCU’s money line, The Action Network reported. That $2.13 million was placed spread across three separate sportsbooks with different odds for TCU. She also put $1 million into TCU to cover a 13-point spread.
Those bets could net Mattress Mack an estimated $8 million in total.
This isn’t Mattress Mack’s first attempt at winning big during the college football title game. He bet more than $6 million on Alabama in last year’s championship matchup against Georgia, and came up empty after the Crimson Tide lost 33-18.
TCU is seeking its first national championship since 1938. Sonny Dykes’ team already pulled off a College Football Playoff upset with a Fiesta Bowl win over Michigan, and Mattress Mack is banking on another against Georgia at Sofi Stadium on Monday.
