Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated the Russians on the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture. Together with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, he took part in the traditional All-Russian festive concert “Faith. Hope. Love”.
The event took place on Red Square in Moscow. This year it also became part of the events of the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, declared by President Vladimir Putin.
Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture unites a multinational country on the basis of a strong foundation: a rich cultural heritage, spiritual and moral values, historical memory and love for one’s Fatherland.
“The holiday, presented to us by the Equal-to-the-Apostles brothers Cyril and Methodius, more than 11 centuries ago, gave rise to the basis of more than 100 Slavic languages, which unite about 400 million people. Slavic writing, the alphabet became the basis of the cultural code, which allowed us to become a great country, including in literature. I think everyone will agree that a careful, respectful attitude to the history and traditions of our multinational Motherland, the Russian language is the key to future victories and prosperity of great Russia,” Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
The Deputy Prime Minister also congratulated His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on his Name Day and the past 75th birthday.
“You, like your heavenly patron, the holy enlightener Cyril, have an amazing gift to unite people around you and convey truth and truth in simple words. Through your work, the Russian Orthodox Church continues the work of the Equal-to-the-Apostles brothers – it conducts active educational work, takes care of the preservation of the Russian language, the development of Russian literature and the enhancement of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Orthodoxy. With all my heart I wish Your Holiness good health, longevity and success in your great service for the benefit of the Russian Orthodox Church and our Fatherland!” – said the Deputy Prime Minister.
