Will Anderson Jr. is poised to become the 21st century version of Derrick Thomas for some NFL franchises.
By declaring himself for the 2023 NFL Draft, Alabama player Will Anderson Jr. announces himself as the best defensive player in Tuscaloosa since the legendary Derrick Thomas.
In three years of playing for Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide, what hasn’t Anderson accomplished? He won a national title as a freshman before becoming a two-time unanimous All-American and bringing back some impressive hardware to Tuscaloosa. Anderson is essentially a surefire prospect for the NFL Draft. He will be recruited in the top 5. Don’t think too much about it.
Here are three NFL teams that should be looking to bolster their pass rush by picking Anderson top.

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to make a trade for local hero Will Anderson Jr.
With the Atlanta Falcons likely picking in the latter part of the top 10, the Dirty Birds should probably make a trade to select the former high school star from Henry Country. It would be a huge blow if the Falcons were to end up with Anderson or Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter. However, they will have to place inside the top 5 to get either star.
The perfect trade partner for the Falcons would be the Seattle Seahawks, who own the Denver Broncos’ first-round pick. Seattle has made tremendous progress this season. The Seahawks still need a few pieces to be truly competitive, so they’ll need to raise more capital to achieve that. If they stayed in the top 5 with the Denver pick, Carter is probably their man rather than Anderson. Atlanta can come back.
The sooner the Falcons have a good defense system, the sooner they will end the playoff drought.
