A little patience before seeing the Airbus A380 again in the Riviera sky and at Nice airport (Alpes-Maritimes). But it is certain: he is coming back! This Friday, January 13, 2023, the Emirates company announced the return of the legendary air liner to the Côte d’Azur.

The United Arab Emirates company explains that it is adding three destinations to its 2023 schedule, to Glasgow, Nice and Birmingham, with the A380, in a press release.

Return of the A380 to Nice on June 1, 2023

But we will have to wait until June 1 to see him again on the maralpine tarmac. The flight should be daily between the two destinations and thus replace the Boeing 777 which currently operates on this line.

Thus, Emirates plans to serve 50 destinations by the end of the summer, i.e. 90% of its network before the Covid-19 pandemic, against 40 currently, including Paris Charles-de-Gaulle.

Modernized A380s

Emirates’ fleet consists of 80 A380s currently in service. The company is modernizing its fleet as part of a €2 billion program. The first aircraft to be put into service after renovation took off for London-Heathrow in January 2023.

But we will have to wait a little longer before discovering the latest interiors of the Emirates cabins in Nice: 35 destinations in more than 20 countries will be destined to receive them by March 2024.

A first flight in 2017 in Nice

Emirates landed an A380 on the Côte d’Azur for the first time in 2017. And in 2022, the airport welcomed an A380 of a strange kind, since it flew on the basis of… frying oil.
