On January 7, the Orthodox Christians of Lithuania celebrated the Nativity of Christ. More than one and a half thousand people came to the festive concert in Vilnius, near the Christmas tree on the Cathedral Square. Although two days before the concert, according to Facebook, 1.3 thousand people were going to visit the event.
The beginning of the concert was announced by the bell ringing. The priest of the church of Sts. Konstantin and Mikhail Konstantin Lazutkin. He said that today a Savior is born who is ready to come and help all of us. Therefore, each of us should try to show himself that good example, which is evidenced by the lines of the Holy Scriptures. And then everyone will be able to find mutual understanding, and that genuine Joy and Love, to which the soul of every person strives.
Then Irina Mashina and the students of the Naujameschio school performed the song “Let’s love, let’s dream” from the musical “Ballad of a Little Heart”.
After that, on behalf of the Mayor of Vilnius, the Deputy Mayor of Vilnius Edita Tamosiunaite congratulated all those present with Orthodox Christmas. She said how glad the mayor’s office is that representatives of all confessions find a place in our multicultural city. And the city government has always supported this holiday and will continue to support it.
Ilya Vatkin was next on stage with the song “My Vilnius”. Then it was time for Santa Claus to appear with his granddaughter Snegurochka. This year, the role of Santa Claus was played by the artist of the Russian Drama Theater of Lithuania Yuri Shchutsky.
He said that according to the Slavic calendar, this is the year of bread, as well as the year of the Coiled Hedgehog, which means calmness, reliability and caution. Therefore, Grandfather Frost wished everyone the Dog, Bread, Ezhov Happiness.
