It is a team tournament held once every two years in even-numbered years as a competition between the American selection and the world selection.
The first tournament was held in 1994 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William, Virginia, USA, and this year marks the 14th time.
In the past match record, the American selection team has won 11 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, overwhelming the world selection team, and the world selection team will aim for the first victory in 24 years.
Each team consists of 12 representative players and 1 captain, and it is a 4-day competition that decides the victory or defeat in .
・Two players play with their own balls, and the score of the better score on each hole is used.
・Two players of the same team alternately shoot and play one ball.

Over half a century old, it was designed by renowned golf course architect George Cobb in 1961, redesigned and renovated by Arnold Palmer in 1986, and Tom Fazio in 1997 and 2016. The Quail Hollow Club is known as one of the most difficult courses on the PGA Tour, where the 2017 US PGA Championship was held. Doglegs and 5 holes from the 14th onwards are forest courses separated by trees with ponds. In particular, the last three holes from 16th to 18th, commonly known as the “Green Mile”, are long, tight and strategically intertwined with ponds and creeks, and are known as one of the most difficult holes on the PGA Tour, with complex and hard greens.
