Well-known Boston coach operator places first order

Industry leading security features

Specially designed for the North American market, the 13.72 m long three-axle vehicles with a chromed central star set new standards in the USA and Canada in terms of design, comfort, technology and individuality. Coaches are also at the top in terms of efficiency. They are characterized by an optimized aerodynamic shape and low fuel consumption.

The Eberspächer/Sütrak air conditioning system is also excellent. With an output of 35 kW, it keeps the passenger compartment pleasantly cool at all times, even in the heat. With a separate 9 kW air conditioning system for the driver’s cockpit, the drivers also keep a cool head at all times.

Two versions – two cockpits

Speaking of the cockpit: With the dynamic and functional Cockpit Basic Plus, the Tourrider Business offers the best conditions for comfortable and safe driving. The Tourrider Premium impresses with the luxuriously functional Comfort Plus Cockpit. Both cockpits are ergonomically designed and offer a variety of practical and innovative functions.

Glass roof and ambient lighting

The Mercedes-Benz Tourrider Premium is available with a panoramic TopSky glass roof and ambient lighting for driving at night. LED strips along the luggage racks and below the window sills create a pleasant atmosphere and offer more safety for passengers. The passengers can also look forward to a spacious interior, which is six centimeters higher in the premium version than in the Tourrider Business. Both variants are optionally available with two wheelchair spaces. The unique lift installed above the drive axle is easy to use.

World’s first emergency brake assistant ABA 5

Security also plays an important role. The Mercedes-Benz Tourrider is the first touring coach to be equipped with Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA 5) with pedestrian detection as standard. As the world’s first system for buses, it automatically brakes to a standstill when stationary or moving obstacles, including people, are detected. A radar-supported adaptive cruise control keeps a safe distance even at cruise control speed.

Pedestrians and drivers always in view

The new safety features of the Tourrider also include the optional Sideguard Assist with pedestrian detection. This system warns the driver if e.g. B. pedestrians or cyclists in the surveillance zone on the curb side of the coach.

The optional Attention Assist (ATAS) always has the driver in view. It warns visually and acoustically if it recognizes typical signs of tiredness or inattention. Another safety feature is that the Tourrider always stays on track. This warning system is a camera system behind the windscreen that detects unintentional departure from the marked lane and warns the driver.

Crash elements protect the driver

The design also focused on passive safety. The Front Collision Guard (FCG) offers unique protection for the driver and accompanying persons. The system consists of a transverse profile that serves as underride protection in the event of an accident. The structure behind it consists of crash elements that specifically absorb energy in the event of an impact.

The Mercedes-Benz Tourrider is also equipped with integrated energy-absorbing bumpers at the front and rear.
