Quebecers ignored on waivers

Quebecers Mathieu Perreault, of the Winnipeg Jets, Samuel Morin, of the Phildelphie Flyers, and Frederik Gauthier, of the Arizona Coyotes, were all ignored on waivers on Tuesday.

Perreault, Morin and Gauthier could all logically end up on the reserve team of their respective club.

Four players have been claimed and will be packing their bags to join another team.

Goalkeeper Anton Forsberg moved from the Edmonton Oilers to the Carolina Hurricanes, while forward Rudolfs Balcers left the Ottawa Senators to join the San Jose Sharks. For Balcers, this is a return to the organization of the Sharks. The winger was involved in September 2018 in the major transaction that sent Erik Karlsson to San Jose.

For their part, the Winnipeg Jets have lost goaltender Eric Comrie and defenseman Luca Sbisa, who will play for the New Jersey Devils and Nashville Predators respectively. Comrie could help the Devils make up for the loss of Quebecker Corey Crawford, who announced his retirement last Saturday.

Among the new players finding themselves on waivers on Tuesday, the New York Islanders have sacrificed Leo Komarov in the hope that he will not be claimed and that he can end up in the reserve team. The Hurricanes reserved the same fate for goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic.
