The NFL postseason kicks off! This Saturday the first matches of the wildcard round in the NFL begin to be played and one of the games that will be played will be the one with the Rams and the Seahawks as protagonists, who will face each other at Lumen Field in Seaatle, Washington.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams entered this postseason as the second seed in the wildcard after finishing the season as second in the West Division of the National Conference with a 10-8-0 record. The Los Angeles team came to these instances despite putting their participation at risk in weeks 15 and 16 of the regular week with a couple of losses against the Jets and these same Seahawks.
They entered the final week of the regular season playing all-for-all and came out ahead against all odds against Arizona, winning 18-7. They did not have their starting quarterback Jared Goff due to injury and today they will not have him on the field, which is a huge loss for the team.
However, they can watch their backs thanks to their defense which ended up as one of the best (if not the best) in the regular season, and was the one that helped them win in that final game, although the Arizona quarterback’s injury it also played in his favor.
It was a season of ups and downs for the Seattle team beyond what their record tells us. At 12-4-0, they ended up taking the honors in the western division of the National Conference, which was by far the most contested in the NFL so they should be given credit for this feat.
The Seahawks ended the season on the right foot with a four-game winning streak against the Jets, Washington, Rams and 49ers, thus freeing themselves from what was a turbulent midseason where the team stopped performing at the level of the first weeks, reaping all of their losses between weeks 7 and 13 against Cardinals, these Rams, Bills and Giants.
However, they finished as one of the best teams in offense, and ended up finding some balance in defense, which gives their fans hope that they will have a good performance in this postseason against big teams.
Player mto power
Aaron Donald He finished the regular season as one of the players with the most knockdowns to quarterbacks in the entire league with a total of 13.5. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native also completed 27 tackles, with three in the last game against Arizona.
Russell Wilson It faded as the weeks progressed, but he still ended up having an excellent season, with a total of 40 touchdown passes (third among all quarterbacks in the NFL) and 4,212 passing yards.
This clash will be quite even if we take into account the clashes between both teams in the regular season, with each winning one of the two games they played against each other.
The local in those games was the one who would end up keeping the victory which suggests that the Seahawks have the advantage for this commitment, but not only that, but Goff’s absence will make the Rams have to use their ultra-defensive scheme again to advance to the next round and that may not be enough for them.
Against Arizona they were lucky, but substitute quarterback John Wolford did not show enough to be excited about him in this match. Wilson is quite elusive and with his mobility and the great offense that surrounds him he is sure to do enough to carry his team into the next round.
