Real Madrid have issued a statement regarding the end of Gareth Bale’s career.
On January 9, the 33-year-old Welshman published an appeal in which announced the end of speeches both at club and international level.
“Given Gareth Bale’s announcement of his retirement from professional football, Real Madrid Football Club wishes to express its gratitude, admiration and love for the great legend of our club and world football.
Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid in 2013 and defended our shirt for 9 years, during which he won 19 titles: 5 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 3 La Liga trophies, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups. He was individually voted the 2018 Champions League Final Player of the Year and won the Ballon d’Or at the Club World Cup the same year.
Gareth Bale was part of our team on one of the most successful stages in our history and will forever be remembered for many of the highlights of the last decade, such as his goal after an unforgettable run in the 2014 Copa del Rey final, his landmark goal in the Champions League final in Lisbon in 2014 or his goals in the Champions League final in Kyiv in 2018, especially with the overhead kick that will forever remain in the memory of all football fans.
His figure will forever be connected with the history of our club.
Good luck Gareth and best wishes to you and your family.”
