ARIZONA- Luke Air Force Base is providing bottled water to people who live or work near the base after receiving sample results indicating possible contamination in the water.

  • Customers can pick up bottled water at 7011 N. El Mirage Road in Glendale, 7 am to 7 pm
  • Monday through Friday and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. A bottled water delivery service will be scheduled in a few weeks.

According to a Press release from Luke Air Force Base, the Air Force Civil Engineer and Valley Utilities Water Company recently sampled drinking water at the base and found the presence of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS). ) “at levels higher than those allowed by the Environmental Protection Agency for drinking water.”

The Air Force Civil Engineers Center (AFCEC) and the Agua de Valley Utilitiesrecently completed sampling of distribution points that provide water to home and business owners east of Luke Air Force Base to determine the level of dissolved PFOS / PFOA compounds in drinking water. After receiving the lab results, the bottled water will begin to be distributed to residents on February 23.
