HERMOSILLO, Sonora.- Two companies established in Sonora begin operations as suppliers for the American company Lucid Motors of Casa Grande, Arizona, thanks to their qualified workforce and the competitive advantages generated by the Sonora-Arizona mega-region, said Governor Claudia Pavlovich Arellano.

The Sonoran president recalled that in December 2019, together with the governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey, Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Motors and Peter Hochholdinger, vice president of Manufacturing, they laid the first stone of the company in the neighboring border state.

Now, said the president, two companies installed in Sonora already operate as suppliers of Lucid Motors of Casa Grande, Arizona and these are: Cooper Standard in Guaymas, which manufactures automotive packaging and fluid hoses; and Faurecia in Hermosillo, which manufactures battery packs.

For his part, the Secretary of Economy Jorge Vidal Ahumada highlighted the qualified workforce of Sonoran workers and the drive of Governor Pavlovich to detonate the economy in the entity that resulted in these companies installed in the entity being suppliers of Lucid Motors from Casa Grande, Arizona.

“They selected Arizona for the Sonoran manufacturing and the proof is that these two companies are already working for Lucid Motors, With the support of the Sonora supplier, Lucid Motors will build 30 thousand cars a year, it can be said that this is the best example that the Mega-region offers companies a platform for growth through shared resources ”, said the Minister of Economy.

The CEO of Lucid Motors, Peter Rawlinson, explained that they have access to almost 100 Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive suppliers, based in Sonora, so the Lucid Motors supplier will be less than 24 hours from the Casa Grande plant , Arizona.

At the conclusion of the first stage of construction of its plant in Arizona, Lucid Motors, the plant, called Lucid Advanced Manufacturing Plant-1, will have an initial capacity of up to 30 thousand units per year; It will consist of the Lucid Air Dream Editions, followed by the Grand Touring; the Touring and Lucid Air Pure in 2022.
