Waterbury, Connecticut police have arrested two teenagers on suspicion of armed robbery.
Police said the teens, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old, both from Waterbury, are suspected of driving a stolen car, shooting, engaging police in a chase and possessing an illegally loaded gun.
The vehicle, a black 2015 Honda CRV, was stolen in Wolcott earlier in the day and was involved in an attempted carjacking and shooting in Waterbury, police said.
Officers found him at 4:42 p.m. Thursday in the area of Pine Street and Byrneside Avenue in Waterbury and tried to pull him over, but the driver sped off and lost control at the intersection of Kingsbury and North Elm streets. , where it collided with a police cruiser and another vehicle, police said.
Jimmie Shoemaker-Gonzalez was arrested for stealing a police car and then crashing into the Palma restaurant in Bristol.
Police stopped both teens and said they found a loaded 9mm handgun and an empty magazine in the vehicle.
No one was hurt.
The 16-year-old driver was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a handgun without a permit, unlawful transfer of a handgun or revolver, theft of a motor vehicle, interfering with a police officer, involving police in a pursuit, evading liability, reckless driving, and additional motor vehicle offenses.
The 14-year-old passenger was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a handgun or revolver without permission, unlawful transfer of a handgun or revolver, theft of a motor vehicle and interfering with a police officer.
