The Council of Europe condemned the use of the death penalty on women in the United States of America.
I wrote about this in Twitter spokesman for the organization Daniel Holtgen, reports Ukrinform.
“The Council of Europe reiterates its clear position against the death penalty under any circumstances,” said the CE representative.
Holtgen also recalled that the United States has observer status in the Council of Europe.
On January 12, a woman was reportedly executed in the United States for the first time in 68 years. Lisa Montgomery was injected by lethal injection after a federal court rejected her death sentence appeal.
52-year-old Montgomery was charged with the brutal murder in 2004 of a 23-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant.
