The President of the United States and the First Lady will travel to Puerto Rico and Florida

(CNN) — The president of the United States, Joe Biden, and the first lady, Jill Biden, will travel this Monday to Puerto Rico after the passage of Hurricane Fiona, according to a statement from the White House.

Later, both will travel to Florida this Wednesday after the devastation caused by the hurricane Ian.

The president referred to the damage caused by the hurricane during his speech this Saturday night at an awards dinner in Washington.

“Our hearts, to state the obvious, needless to say, are full of pain. We owe Puerto Rico much more than it has already received,” Biden said.

He said his government will do “whatever it takes” to help search and rescue, recovery and reconstruction.

“It’s going to take a long time, so we can’t get tired of it,” he said, adding, “At times like this I am reminded that America is about how we choose to view each other … how we choose to treat everyone with dignity.” and the respect they deserve.
