They give youth merit awards to an LGBTTT + activist and from Acapulque who will go to NASA

Guerrero.- Ricardo Alexis Locia Hernández and Arleth Pamela Silva Hernández received the 2022 Youth Merit Award in the categories of human rights and academic achievement on Thursday.

On this day, Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda led the ceremony held in Chilpancingo in which outstanding young people in different disciplines were awarded.

Upon receiving the recognition in the Human Rights category, the anthropologist and activist for the rights of LGBTTT+ populations, Locia Hernández stressed that the recognition is “an exercise in visibility that should not stop there”.

Ricardo Alexis was recognized for accompanying people living with HIV, and giving talks to indigenous and Afro-Mexican communities on LGBTTT+ issues.

For her part, Arleth Pamela Silva Hernández, from Acapulco, was awarded in the category of Academic Achievement, for having won a scholarship for a stay at NASA’s International Air and Space Program in Alabama, United States.

Silva Hernández won with a project to perform non-invasive and vacuum oncology procedures.

In her speech, Governor Salgado Pineda congratulated the winners, as well as their mothers and fathers, and recognized the participation of young people in the political life of the state.

The head of the state executive maintained that she is “a friend and ally of the youth of Guerrero as an essential part of the transformation in Guerrero,” and assured that in her administration, young people occupy most of the spaces.

Other winners were for her contribution to political culture and democracy, Jana Laura Voorting Salazar, and sports merit, Miguel Ángel García Ramos.

Merit for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development, Lizeth Alejandra Helguera Peralta, Social Commitment, Sergio Daniel Agüero Ramírez, Disability and Integration, Ulises Daniel Díaz Adame and Entrepreneurial Ingenuity, María de Los Ángeles Arcos González, Science and Technology, Dillan Michael Pérez Ramos, and Ámbar Stephanie Santos Ríos, actress and producer in the merit of artistic expressions and popular arts for her participation in Netflix as Luis Miguel, the series.

The awards were granted by the Secretary of Youth and Children of Guerrero. The winners received a medal, recognition and an economic stimulus.

The selection of the winners was made through a call to which 112 young people from Guerrero applied in ten categories.
