Reese Witherspoon (46) celebrates the 20th anniversary of her cult film “Sweet Home Alabama – Love in a Roundabout Way”. To do this, she traveled back in time with her fans. The actress shared on Instagram a compilation of their favorite scenes.
The Oscar winner writes: “Sweet Home Alabama came out 20 years ago and completely changed my life.” The memories of the shooting and the great actors are incredible. For example, she named Josh Lucas (51), Patrick Dempsey (56), Dakota Fanning (28), Melanie Lynskey (45), Jean Smart (71), Ethan Embry (44), Mary Kay Place (74), Fred Ward ( 1942-2022) and Candice Bergen (76). Witherspoon’s favorite line is “So I can kiss you whenever I want”. Finally, she asked her followers if they remembered when they first saw the film.
The love film became a box office hit
“Sweet Home Alabama” was released in US theaters in September 2002. There, the film grossed more than $35 million in its opening weekend and has grossed over $130 million in theaters during its run. In Germany it wasn’t until December. The comedy grossed an additional $53 million at the worldwide box office. The budget was $30 million. The film was named after the Lynyrd Skynyrd song of the same name.
