A few days ago the medical authorities of the United States reported that citizens who have completed their vaccination against COVID-19 no longer need to wear face masks outdoors, except if they are in a large crowd of people.
«It is the return of freedom. It is the return that we can return to carry out our normal activities (…) We have not arrived yet, but we are on the exit ramp. And that’s a beautiful thing, ”said Dr. Mike Saag, an infectious disease expert at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
In the case of Mexico, Undersecretary Hugo López-Gatell said that the same does not apply in Mexico. “The @CDCgov recommendations on the use of face masks in vaccinated people are applicable to the US and for various reasons are not directly valid in Mexico,” he said.
Thus, he added that as authorities “we recommend continuing to use face masks and with a healthy distance, regardless of the vaccination status.”
