Today is Monday, October 10 and these are the main news of the day:
1.- And Shooting at a Lauderhill residential complex leaves one person injured. Paramedics transported the victim in an ambulance, while police established a perimeter around the apartments. Neighbors say they heard several shots and when they left they saw blood on the ground.
2.- And fire destroyed a house where three children were sleeping and six adults in Northwest Miami-Dade. A woman who decided not to go to work was the one who saved everyone inside the house. She alerted them to what was going on as they were all sleeping. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
3.- Taxpayers who requested an extension to file their 2021 tax return must do so no later than Monday, October 17, the last day to file a 1040 form and avoid a penalty. Florida taxpayers have until February 15, 2023, due to Hurricane Ian.
4.- Two men who posed as cleaning personnel after Hurricane Ian were accused of robbery. Ernesto Pedroso Martinez and Noel Morales drove from Homestead to Fort Myers, saying they would help with recovery efforts. But they were allegedly seen stealing items from a business and placing them in their vehicle.
5.- The Miami Carnival concluded on Sunday, which celebrated the culture of the Caribbean with more than 20 bands and numerous dancers, who wore multicolored costumes. One section was dedicated to Miya Marcano, the young Hispanic woman murdered in Orlando last year. Funds were also raised for those affected by Hurricane Ian.
