A tornado swept across the southeastern United States of America, causing destruction of homes and power outages. In addition, local officials report at least nine dead people.

At least five tornadoes were recorded in central Alabama, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Jessica Lowes. She noted that one of these tornadoes potentially ran about 241 km from southwest Selma, Alabama, to the Georgia-Alabama state line.
Emergency response director Ernie Baggett added that rescue teams were looking for the missing in Alabama’s Otauga County, where seven deaths were reported. At the same time, emergency services stressed that the number of victims could increase.
The hurricanes damaged up to 50 properties in Otauga County, according to the local sheriff’s office. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp confirmed that two people died as a result of the hurricane. In addition, a 5-year-old child died as a result of a tree falling on a car. The adult passenger is in critical condition.
The tornado tore off roofs and scattered debris on many structures. Numerous businesses and homes were also destroyed and trees uprooted.
