Washington – For the first time in the world, a pig heart has been used as a replacement organ. The 57-year-old, who suffers from a life-threatening heart disease, received the organ on Friday, said the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore on Monday (local time). According to US media, the operation lasted eight hours, the transplanted heart has since started working, and the patient is doing well.
