This Monday, the Colombian authorities reported the arrest of a Colombian-American soldier requested in extradition by the United States, accused of having abused two minors.
The subject identified as Carlos Fernando Castro, 32 years old, was located by the authorities in the city of Bogotá after being requested for extradition purposes by the Second Judicial Circuit of First Instance of the Army of Fort Bragg, in North Carolina, USA..
According to what was detailed by the same Prosecutor’s Office on Twitter, the US authorities are conducting a court martial against Castro “for the charges of violent carnal access and sexual assault of a minor, aggravated assault against a minor and fraud with credit card”.
According to the international request, Castro, in his capacity as a first sergeant in the US Army, allegedly sexually abused a girl in Alaska between 2013 and 2016 and also another minor in North Carolina between 2014 and 2018.
The Colombian authorities explained that the sergeant was sent last October to a military base in the United States, however, he deserted and traveled to Colombia, where he tried to evade the judicial process.
Now the Colombian authorities will notify the United States Embassy of “the location procedure” of Castro so that they can begin the formal procedures for the extradition request, added the Prosecutor’s Office.
