Votto, Winker hit home runs, Reds beat Giants 3-0

Joey Votto homered to McCovey Cove beyond the Giants’ right-field wall, Jesse Winker hit a two-run homer and the Cincinnati Reds shut out San Francisco 3-0 on Monday night.

Winker’s first home run this season was also Aaron Sanchez’s first hit in the third inning and gave left-hander Wade Miley (2-0) early support for his victory.

Cincinnati recovered like this after losing two straight games to Arizona by a 15-3 aggregate score after a six-game winning streak.

Miley gave up two hits in five episodes. Tejay Antone, who relieved him on the mound, struck out five in 3 2/3 innings without allowing hits and Lucas Sims got the last out for his first career save in the Reds’ first shutout this season.

The Giants left their score blank for the second time this year.

Sanchez (0-1) allowed two runs and three hits in five innings in his home debut in his first career game against the Reds.

For the Reds, Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez 3-1.

For the Giants, the Colombian Donovan Solano 3-1. The Venezuelan Wilmer Flores 2-0. Honduran Mauricio Dubón 2-0.
