Wide receiver challenges quarterback trio

Munich – The successor candidates for Joe Burrow have been determined. On January 5th it will be decided who will win the Heisman Trophy.

In addition to quarterbacks Mac Jones from Alabama, Florida’s Kyle Trask and Trevor Lawrence from Clemson, wide receiver DeVonta Smith from Alabama is also available.

First wide receiver since Desmond Howard

Smith would be the first pass recipient since Desmond Howard to crown himself the best college player. The later Super Bowl MVP 1995 with the Green Bay Packers had received the award in 1991 as a wide receiver from Michigan.

Smith was number one in the country with 1,511 yards and 98 passes captured, catching 17 touchdowns.

Jones and Lawrence as challengers

His passer Mac Jones, with 3739 pass yards and 32 touchdowns with only four interceptions, also played a major role in the Alabama Crimson Tide against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday, January 1st in the Rose Bowl (live from 9:55 pm on ProSieben MAXX and ran.de) for entry into the National Championship Game.

Trevor Lawrence is also playing for a place in the final. The designated number 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft awaits the Ohio State Buckeyes with the Clemson Tigers in the Sugar Bowl (afterwards from around 2:00 a.m. live on ProSieben MAXX and ran.de).

Lawrence came to just nine games and 2,753 yards with 22 touchdowns and four interceptions due to a corona infection. He also scored 211 yards and seven touchdowns over the running game.

Trask only outsiders

Kyle Trask is an underdog. The Florida Gators missed the playoffs, also because they lost the last two games of the season to Alabama and LSU and ended the season with eight wins and three losses.
