With Morant’s spectacular dunk, Grizzlies beat Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Ja Morant had 23 points, 10 assists and other ferocious dunks as the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Indiana Pacers 130-112 on Saturday to extend the NBA’s current longest winning streak to nine.

Desmond Bane had 25 points to lead the Grizzlies, who tied Denver for the top spot in the Western Conference at 29-13.

Neither Bane nor Morant played the fourth period. Morant’s towering dunk on Jalen Smith put them up by 20 points with 4:20 left in the third quarter and Memphis led the fourth quarter by as many as 34.

The game was tied in the second quarter before Memphis outscored Indiana 27-11 and led 68-52 at halftime. Morant had five points and four assists in that span.

The Pacers, without two starters, have lost three straight. Point guard Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana’s leading scorer and NBA assists leader, is expected to miss two weeks after suffering a strained left elbow and a bruised left knee on Wednesday. Center Myles Turner, who is averaging 17 points, is out with back spasms.
