Spring hunting of geese has started in Tanana. The villagers’ annual rite also allows aspiring hunters to show off their skills and marksmanship. But this time, several parties are at each other’s throats. First, Charlie Wright makes a big bang. He turns his son Bob into a snail because he doesn’t meet the high demands of the professional hunter. Meanwhile, James Roberts leaves his son Francis to trek alone to the family’s traditional hunting grounds.
