Debenhams Site Demolition Leads to Road Closures in Limerick City

The road off the Debenhams site in Limerick city has been temporarily closed this afternoon, December 21st, due to ongoing demolition work.

This comes as the iconic signage for the former department store, which closed its doors four years ago, is being removed.

The site at the junction of Sarsfield Street and O’Connell Street has stood vacant since Debenhams Ireland entered liquidation in April 2020.

While the building is currently being utilized by the Limerick School of Art and Design for its 2024 Christmas Showcase, its future remains uncertain.

There are currently no official updates available regarding the estimated timeframe for the road to reopen to regular traffic.
