Samsung is addressing a common issue with its upcoming One UI 7 update for Galaxy devices. It will include a system-wide toggle to control HDR content brightness, a feature that has been absent from Android devices until now. When the new Samsung software rolls out, no longer will you be subject to splashes of extreme brightness out of nowhere.
The feature, called “Super HDR,” is located in the Settings app under Advanced features. This lets users to disable the automatic adjustment of display brightness for HDR content for all the apps, including third-party apps like Instagram. HDR photos show an expanded range of colors on compatible displays, but HDR comes with a set brightness profile that can make it irritatingly luminous in a dark environment.
